Thorin ZeilmakerSailing multihulls is athletic, about making quick decisions, very competitive, spectacular, fun to watch and certainly worth to be represented at the Olympics!

Stein VarjordThe sailing establishment is a sissy group of ugly men out of touch with our sport. They hate that it's heading away from posh afternoons on the bay towards speed, colour and action, dominated by personalities and new events more than tradition. Kick the fossils out, with their Star and Finn! (This coming from a 47 years old sailing umpire with a life for sailing, even in Star and Finn. Still I'm not daft! Put them in a museum. At least 20 years too late already.)

Mike HenselAs a long time multi hull sailor and the father of two young sailors, I am asking that the decision to allow the multi hull into the Olympics for 2012 be reconsidered. As most young athletes who compete my children look to the Olymics as a ideal for any sport. Having the multi hull removed from that list detracts from the concept of striving to do as well as you can in the sport of sailing. I know that not all types of sailing crafts can be represented in the Olympics, but at least one type of multi hull should be represented. This sends a message to young people that thier sport is not worthy. I hope that that is not the goal that the ISAF has.
Mike Gebhardtbring back the cat to the Olympics.
Mary WilliamsI understand that the ten categories of sailing craft selected for 2012 are to represent all facets of the sport of sailing. And the excellence in each. Each craft reperesents all those who sail, for example, a single handed monohull - of whatever make. To demonstrate that the selection is a fair one, please could ISAF or the IOC produce the numbers of people, across the globe, who sail each category of craft? I do not mean by specific brand of boat / surfer, but rather the number who sail a 'Two person dinghy high performance - Men'. I am particularly interested to know the numbers who sail a' Keelboat match racing - Women' as compared with the number, across the globe who sail a multihull - of either gender. If the number of multihull sailors is larger than any of the categories represented by the ten, then this is an unjust selection. It would also mean that the ten do not present a:Perfect showcase of the wide range and diversity of sailing'. If that were the case I would asking for legal justification of the decision. 369 Matt CowleyHow pathetic and closed minded these people are to rule out catamaran sailing. Most people sail on a cat before anything else when they are on holidays and rent one. Now we have slow, outdated boats in the Olympics. Bring young and enthusiastic people to the decision making table and not a bunch of old farts.
Stuart WatsonI am an offshore sailor, too old for fast racing multihulls, who can see no logic in the ISAF's latest decision.
Will SunnucksThe Olympic movement strives for the ultimate - the fastest and the best, reflecting the colour and diversity of sporting activity around the world. Multihulls have superior performance, are interesting to watch and should certainly be included in the 2012 Olympics.
Anonymousreally bad decision for multihull sailor all over the world. Shame you
Harald WeidlichI used to sail on Dart 18, a multihull and I am
Adrian FalckMultihuls are a class in their own and justify their own place in the olympics.
Colin CavanaghMulti hulls are fantastic to watch, a class of sailors to admire and they deserve their place to compete in the 2012 Olympics. We should be thinking of the next generation of young sailors.

Matt LondonNo multi-hulls in the Olympics? Is that possible? No wonder sailing is on the decline. Why is it that the ISAF is such a useless incompetent embarrassment to all...
Bruce KendallThe Tornado is the poster class and fastest class in all conditions. Even light winds it is going much faster than everything. Most of the sailing shots in Qing dao right now are of the Tornado as it looks very sectacular even in 6 knots. My only suggestion is that the Tornado become more one design. The womans skiff should also be in. The keel boats should both be match racing in normal keel boats - perferably a sports boat with retractable keels and genakers on prods. Where is ISAFs long term stratagie to stay in the Olympic Games?
Glenn AshbyMulti Hull sailing world wide represents a large majority of sailing. There are numerous dinghy classes currently competing within the Olympics. I feel that it is only fair and just to have at least one multi hull dicipline included in the Olympic Games. The Multi Hull being excluded is an insult to Multi Hull sailing around the world!
John McLaughlinUnbelievable!

Graham GriffinIf you wish to interest people (sailing and non- sailing alike) in the olympic yachting events and sailing in general, it makes no sense to retain old, heavy, expensive boats that are only sailed in a very few countries by very few people, at the expense of an olympic catamaran class. The olympics is a showcase for our sport and therefore needs to reflect the excitement that exists in sailing catamarans and modern high performance dinghies.
Ken WilliamsThere is absolutely no valid reason to remove the multihull from the olympics. If we can have skiing where they stop and shoot at targets, then we can have multihull sailing.
Shane Atchley
Henry KayeMultihull sailing is a very vital part of world sailing . It's also a growing component of sailing and affordable.
Greg WhalleyRidiculous decision ISAF - laughable but for the fact that this flies in the face of logic!
Allan MillIts a Disgrace!
Chuck LantzEven though I sail monohulls, I understand the importance and technical superiority of multihulls. They are the fastest and most visually dramatic of all sailing vessels. To remove them from the Olympics, in favor of yet another monohull, is a tragically wrong and technically misguided decision.
James AutryThis news came as a big shock, as well as a disapointment. By ruling out the catamaran from competing in the Olympic cames, ISAF has completely undermined a large group of sailors that are very passionate about the boat they sail. The catamaran has gained recognition all over the world for its design and use as both a racing and recreational craft . I feel that these games have lost a great deal of the excitement that could have been. Catamarans are racing boats, let them race in the most prestigeous on-going event in sporting history.
Nancy Breaktone
Brett RobinsonCan we please just film two videos; one of any dingy of choice accepted for the Olympics, and one of a Tornado. Both in 20 knots of wind. Then can we offer both films side by side to everyone possible and take a vote on which boat is much more performance based and much more exciting to watch? I bet the multihulls win unanimously.
Scott Fox
Darren BundockI have lost all faith in the ISAF and especially the council decision making process. Sailing has taken a massive backwards step not only eliminating the multihull but not implementing the women's high performance skiff or the woman's multihull. Keeping the double handed dinghy and not moving with the times. Our sport had the chance to take a massive jump in London 2012 (finally a Olympics with maybe wind) but our sport has been destroyed by a council made up of inactive un-youthful ex sailors living in the past. The multihull has been discriminated against, it was the easy option. Despite multihulls making up for 25% of the sailing fraternity we have very little representation on the ISAF council. The lobbying, Pub parties and deals that go on in the corridors before the ISAF Council meeting under my definition spells corruption. How can they throw out the Events committee recommendations after all they are ISAF's experts that are in touch with the sailing communities.
Gordon CoyI think it is disgraceful that multihulls are being dropped from the Londoon Games. The public should be given the opportunity to watch the fastest boats in the sport.
Volker VahrenkampMultihulls are not only the fasted boats on the water but also provide one of the most spectacular sites for onlookers. It is relatively inexpensive and hence affordable for many. With a large and worldwide community of multi-hull sailors this decission is difficult to follow and simply wrong! Please reverse this recommendation and re-istate multihulls for the Olympics!!!! Volker Vahrenkamp
