Name: Jean Kinzel on Jul 2, 2002State: MNCountry: USComments: This was deplorable! I agree empathically that 'World Hunger' and those people who daily suffer from eating disorders, should be subjected further by this conscious act. It was inappropriate for the MTV young adult audience to view, in my opinion. It is also irresponsible of MTV management to air the binge episode. Teenagers have enough issues to deal with. MTV should be a reponsible role-model media. Television influences young minds, negatively or positively. I feel MTV has been negligent in condoning their decision to let their viewing audience watch a binging episode. It was indeed a 'gross social impropriety'and MTV should be held accountable.Flag

Name: Theresia Davidson on Jul 2, 2002State: OHCountry: USComments: Hmmm...I would have to agree...this isn't even based on a metabolic reasoning, other than that which is used in such eating disorders as Bulimia. Or was this actually intended to be a "how to be one" demonstration for your young and impressionable viewing audience And yes...is just another gross display of our social decadence and irresponsibility...and then we wonder why our younger generation is so out of balance Teach instead a life serving lesson and goal to live by to our youth and we will all be the better for it.Flag

Name: Lea Rimeros on May 5, 2004State:Country:Comments: I am not exactly agreeing with this side of the argument because everybody on t.v. does simple things that can provoake a certain person to look at it in a certain way that could influence them negatively, so when they were eating all of that food and ended up throwing up (not everybody purged) they weren't thinking at the time "What about all of the bulimics in America" At that time, they were thinking"I am stuffed with a whole bunch of crap and I got to get it out now before I explode!!" You probably have done something that seems completley normal or logical to you, but somebody who has a serious problem in that area would be influenced by you. I.E. drinking in a club--if you were on a tourism show and they were showing all of nighclubs or restaurants and you and happened to be drinking, you might influence or make an alcoholic watching that show want to take another drink, but you are just doing the norm....Flag
