The following are recommendations from MTM families in response to the proposed increase in enrollment from 515 to 700 students and the change in enrollment boundaries to a 70% Lincoln/30% other areas. We recommend that MTM: • REMAIN a dedicated STEM magnet that serves to feed middle school students to Lincoln High (MTM students get priority to enter the Center for Science & Engineering) • School remains funded by TIIBG. Maintain TIIBG funding for STEM focus with specialized teachers and STEM courses • School is currently under construction using Prop S fund to fulfill original growth. •Proceed with current growth plan: 250 year 1 enrollment 450 year 2 enrollment 525 year 3 enrollment in years 3 and 4 600 enrollment in year 5 (2013) once the two story, 12 classroom building is completed w Prop S funds (currently in discussion to add 2 more classrooms to the building for a total of 14) • Maintain enrollment plan above until safety issues are solved and there is sufficient classroom space for students. Continue to address space needs (shared field) and safety concerns with Gompers and District Staff. • Change the Magnet enrollment boundaries to the following as not to jeopardize our Dedicated Magnet status and to maintain the diversity of the many communities that feed into MTM. • Lincoln becomes a Cluster of its own: 40% Cluster 0 - Lincoln is the majority cluster 20% Cluster 3 - Crawford, Hoover, San Diego 20% Cluster 2 - Kearny, Morse, Serra 20% Cluster 1 - Mira Mesa, UC High, Clairemont • Maintain Johnson and Webster as priority STEM elementary feeder schools for MTM enrollment •Consider the additional space needs for gymnasium/ multipurpose room, and library. ________________________________________________________ Please sign this petition if you agree with the recommendations listed above and you do not want the District to increase enrollment to 700 and to change the cluster enrollment pattern to 70% Lincoln /30% all other areas.
