I feel our Military Veterans who have been Totally and Permanently Disabled in service to our Nation and our State should be granted a 100% Homestead Exemption on their personal homes in Mississippi.

Michael McKown, United States3 years ago Comments: Family Law lawyers, using the disguise of the Former Spouse Protection Act of 1982, have made a routine practice of lumping U.S. Military and Veterans Administration disability compensation into the definition of joint property in divorce cases - in DIRECT violation of the protection of said compensation by U.S. Code Title 38, Section 5301, The assault is compounded by divorce court judges who ignore the federal statute, in many cases stating, quote "I don't care what the federal government says, this is MY courtroom!" end quote. When this was brought to the attention of the U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs he basically brushed the assault aside, stating that the U.S. Congress had to take care of the matter, as he was not empowered to enforce the statute.
William K. Goodson, United States6 years ago Comments: I believe this is a very worthy cause. Our disabled veterans should never have to pay property taxes. I believe they have made sacrifice enough with their service and loss to the military.
Dean Bobo, United States6 years ago Comments: I think our veterans should be held to the highest essteem for risking their lives for ours. Please give them this small token.
