After much reviewing & consideration, the Medical Students Association of India (IFMSA-India) is ready to submit a petition to Medical Council of India to OPPOSE the proposed move to hold a National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to post graduate medical courses and MBBS courses from the next academic sessions countrywide. Our stand to oppose this proposal: 1. Hardly any coaching facilities in some states. Eg. Bihar (http://www.hindustantimes.com/India-news/Patna/State-govt-says-no-to-NEET-to-file-petition-in-HC/Article1-935341.aspx) 2. In states like Bihar is not very well accustomed to CBSE. 3. Students and teachers were not trained sufficiently to teach the proposed syllabus (at least for now) 4. Tamil Nadu has been following 69% reservation for Backward and Most Backward Communities and Scheduled Castes and Tribes in professional courses. If a medical CET is enabled in the state, it will unbalance the entire admission system in the state. (http://blog.careermitra.com/2012/09/tamil-nadu-opposes-neet-ug-stay/) Proposed Idea: 1. We suggest the Medical Council of India to re-study the proposal and come up with facilities and training first to ensure the students in India are well aware the details of NEET and perhaps come up with NEET in the next 3 years.
