Name: Stephen Beale on Sep 25, 2007Comments: I was appalled to see how wrongly Olchfa had reacted to tsuch allegations as, from what I have gathered through articles in the paper, the police could not find any grounds on which to charge Dave Aldridge yet somehow Olchfa seemed to find grounds on which to sack him - what a joke. For a man who was such a tremendous teacher and thoroughly nice bloke, who also served Olchfa extremely well during his time there it seems disgusting how they have merely shown him the door in the face of what are almost certainly false allegations.Flag

Name: Richard Beale on Sep 26, 2007Comments: I have known Mr Aldridge as teacher in Olchfa, which both of my sons attended,as well as family friend. He has been dedicated and caring teacher. Most of the school governors are appointed, not elected, and seem to have disregarded the principle of British criminal justice: innocent until proven guilty. They have a lot to answer for and have destroyed a good teacher's career.Flag

Name: Stephen Thomas on Sep 26, 2007Comments: I had no idea he had been sacked. Mr Aldridge was my form teacher in Olchfa in the 80's and will remain as one of the few teachers who seemed to geninely care about the pupils in the school.Flag

Name: George Weatherill on Sep 27, 2007Comments: I can't believe that's happened to Mr Aldridge. I was in a class with Ciaran, his son, and knew Dave outside of school. He is/was a great teacher and a good man and the way Olchfa have treated him is appauling. It's a huge shame something so crappy could have happened to such a nice guy.Flag

Name: Benjamin Bullock on Oct 4, 2007Comments: It was announced on the BBC news on the 3rd of October that the employment tribunal have found that Mr Aldridge was unfairly dismissed. I think this is great news, and hope that this will help Mr Aldridge put the whole experience behind him. I hope that he ends up being well-compensated for the extreme stress that the rediculous actions and behaviour of Olchfa have caused him and his family.Flag

Name: Katie Collis on Oct 4, 2007Comments: Many Thanks to everyone who signed this petition - partial justice has been done, I wish Mr Aldridge good luck with his compensation case. If parents feel that the governors are at fault (my opinion and I will be writing to them as well) then it would be great if they could let Olchfa know that they have no confidence with how they are running the school. The governors have a duty of care to teachers as well as students and in this instance (and most probably Mr Chapman) they have wholly failed. The petition remains alive so that you can leave further comments.Flag

Name: A. M. JENKINS on Oct 5, 2007Comments: As a long time friend and neighbour of the "Aldridges" I am so pleased that justice has at last been done, but no amount of financial settlement can compensate this loving family for the trauma they have been subjected to during the last 22 months. I too feel the Headmaster and Governors of Olchfa School should be held accountable for the additional resourses that have and will be expended to the detriment of the Council Tax payers of Swansea and more importantly our childrens' education. THE WHOLE ISSUE IS AN ABSOLUTE DISGRACE!Flag

However much we (from another former pupil) would like Mr Aldridge to be reinstated to Olchfa, it remains to be seen whether he would wish to stay on as staff in a school that believes a bunch of gossipy schoolgirls over a much-liked and valued teacher such as himself.Flag

All of the positive commenters have obviously never seen it.Flag
