BEWARE - Northern Van Lines, Eugene OR is nothing but a scam and ripoff (check out ripoff.com). This company reels you in with a low quote and then, once your belongings are in their possession, the price goes up! I recently moved from CO to VA with a quote of $6,174 and my price is now is close to $7,500! The car shipment ($825 additional) which was to be scheduled by this company was never day and then one day prior to move I am having to jump through hoops in order to have my car shipped. My delivery date was 25 June to 3 July. I was told today (5 July) that my items were now being loaded and would be here on 9 July. Three hours later one of their "dispatchers" called to inform me I had to pay another $1,900 today BEFORE they would load the truck (not what was told to me previously by their estimator). When I told them I would NOT pay any more (1,654 prior to pick up day and then an additional $2,274 paid on day of pick up) they then informed me that I wanted "storage" and I would incur a storage fee (according to the binding agreement, the first 30 days of storage is free). I told them no, I did not want storage, I wanted my items loaded and delivered and that I would pay remaining balance when the truck arrived, as was per the initial agreement. The "dispatcher" hung up on me. My next step is an attorney; however, it is time that we put an end to this kind of treatment and shut the doors on this company once and for all. For a company not to be able to provide the Corporate Office/HQ contact (could not give a name or number) should tell us that this company is a FRAUD! My items are now being held "hostage" -- until I pA them half of the remaining balance BEFORE loading. I will not do this. I have been taken advantage of (as have MANY other) and I do NOT want one more single person to go through this horrible experience. Again, please feel free to view the various websites on this FRADULENT company before signing -- you will be shocked at what they have done to people! Nationwide moving company's CEO was actually imprisoned for 7 years back in 2003 for the EXACT same thing (underquoting/over-charging). WHEN does this nonsense stop? When do we make corporations accountable? I say -- NOW! Please sign my petition to put this company out of business so no one else gets wronged! Thank you so much!
