There has been a lot of controversy over traced anime bases. It has caused many arguments within the dolling community. Traced anime bases are generally very large cell-shaded tracing by-products. On occasion, hair or clothing are included on the bases. Often, bases are missing limbs or have heads sliced off at the edge of the canvas, because the body extends farther than the canvas. The average doll and base size is about 200 pixels in height, however many of the traced bases reach heights upward of 500 pixels. That is more than double the size! The trend of tracing anime to create bases is making it so hard to find a decent basebody for digital dolling. Our argument here is not that the bases should be removed, but rather have their own category, perhaps titled Anime Dolls/Bases. There are countless dollers who would like them separated as it clogs our community. We are not the same community, though we do have some crossovers. Using the traced anime bases is different from the traditional style of dolling. So, here we petition to separate dolling done on traced anime bases, as well as bases themselves, from traditional dolling.
