Name: David Johnston on Mar 6, 2008Comments: Several police and SWAT team members on the scene in 1978 have said they are certain a fellow officer shot Officer Ramp by accident. This has been reported by very respected, long-time journalists and others in the Philadelphia area. Several journalists on the scene say that one shot definitely came from across the street, and not from the MOVE home. Some say it set off the whole shooting frenzy. Nine people can certainly not fire one bullet, especially while blinded by tear gas and standing in 5 feet of water. They can also not have "conspired" to kill for they hardly would expect a violent, deadly siege in response to housing code violations. Yet they have all been charged and served time for this because, as the judge said, "they call themselves a family." I do not think this stretching the law could have possibly occurred if most of the MOVE members were white. Please do not require them to feel remorse for these literally impossible acts. There is a huge shadow of doubt and admitting guilt would be showing the same level of racism and ignorance of facts that was used in sentencing. No white person, much less a group of white people, would rot in jail for 30 years for housing violations and one bullet. Especially when the shooter has not been identified. More time beyond the minimum will certainly open Pennsylvania and all involved up to very real charges of cold, cruel, brutal, and even nonchalant racism. We have already burnt 11 of the MOVE "family" alive. 60 homes in that low-income neighborhood were destroyed in the fire as well. The only single person to serve time for that was the one adult survivor of the blaze. There IS something criminally about that. Must this brutal and racially tinged campaign of religious intolerance against MOVE continue into this century Hopefully not in my Pennsylvania or my America. I hope not. All they really did was refuse to stop protesting for animals and for clean water in inner-city Philly. Repeatedly being told to "go home n*****s," they simply refused. They stood their ground for the sake of animals and of their neighbors and themselves. This is what they are truly being punished for. BEING "UPPITY." Thinking they could improve and protect the world and the animals and people in it. These causes are trendy now-a-days, especially for young white citizens. Are they still punishable for African Americans Will Pennsylvania force these dedicated activists to serve 70 more years Do they really deserve to die in prison like their sister Merle has alreadyFlag

Let's see some fair dealing in our time, hey people Let the people go! And finally, free Mumia....Flag

Name: Dr. Suzanne Ross on Mar 6, 2008Comments: Given the very questionable circumstances of these defendants' arrest and conviction, and the positive lives they have led, even within the confines of prison, the very least this society can now do, is allow them to reunite with their families and to live their lives within their values and community. I have no question but that all of them would contribute to a better world in one way or another. The MOVE prisoners have shown themselves again and again to be positve people who in no way should be locked up in prison.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Mar 7, 2008Comments: It would be sad day in history for the concept of Justice in this country if the MOVE members, who served their time and never caused any trouble while incarcerated weren't granted parole. Please parole them, they are the people's champions and true community leaders that haven't seen their families in over 30 years. Enough is Enough, the punishment was served. Consider that they were never guilty of the crimes they were accused of.Flag

Name: Orinthal Ross on Mar 7, 2008Comments: The move 9 have helped many inmates and staff alike in the prison system they have helped young men and women within the prison system form relationships with there children on the outside as well as helping them to become better parents. They have helped inmates fight drug addiction and alcohol addiction and have helped to keep racial violence down in prisons. They have had a very inspirational effect on the prison system and can contribute to a greater society at large not only that but they are innocent for the crime they were convicted of freedom for the move 9Flag
