852 AnonymousHow long will this injustice go on -- nine innocent people locked up for 30 years to life when the evidence points to "friendly" fire, the bullet that killed Officer Ramp being shot by another policeman? And the Judge admitting that he himself did not know who was responsible for Officer Ramp's death?
853 vickie burnsI ask that you please grant parole to these eight prisoners so that, after 30 years, they can go home to their families.
854 Luis Daniel GutierrezThirty years is a long time to think of what one would have done differently. Also thirty years is a good time to think about how to contribute again in society. Please allow these folks the basic human rights given to American Citizens. Thank you, Luis Daniel Gutierrez
855 Jose Luis MartinI think that this is enough, let them free to expend with their owns the last way of their lifes. Stop the represion

860 Dr. Michael SchiffmannThere is severe doubt that the nine MOVE members who were convicted of killing Officer Ramp and various other charges did kill the officer. There is also severe doubt whether the collective punishment the were given - no one even claims to know who pulled the trigger - conforms to the rule of law. There is no doubt at all in my mind that the 260 years the MOVE 9 have collectively spent in prison so far (eight times close to thirty years plus 20 years by Merle Africa, who died in prison in 1998) are much more than enough even if you consider these persons guilty. The parole board should decide to release both the men and the women of this group.
861 Jeremy McConnellThese individuals have spent far too long in prison for these assumed crimes. Please let them be free.

869 AnonymousThe MOVE 9 were subject of a racist siege and frameup by the openly racist Mayor Rizzo and his corrupt police department. Mayor Rizzo was sued by the justice department for brutality because his cops had killed nearly 300 civilians within three years, and he ran on an openly racist "Vote White" election ticket. The supervisor of the siege was an officer Giordano who was the right hand man of the Mayor and was later found guilty of corruption. Giordano also played a central role in the framing of innocent journalist and death row political prisoner Mumia Abu-Jamal, because Mumia spoke up for MOVE. The MOVE members started carrying weapons to defend themselves because police officers had brazenly murdered one of their babies in the middle of the street. No officer was punished, even though there were witnesses that the cops pushed a MOVE member with a baby and then trampled it, and even though the baby's body was displayed for all the community to see. It was claimed that there was no proof without an autopsy, but that was clearly a fabricated excuse to cover the police officers made with intention to insult the religious beliefs of MOVE, who don't believe in autopsy. The MOVE were persecuted for exercising the right to bear arms in self defense, and even though they surrendered their weapons to the cops to prove they had no firing pins and were just a show for defense. This whole case is full of persecution of religion, persecution of political activism, racism, and persecution for bearing arms in self defense. One doesn't need to agree with the group in any particular to see this fact. In addition to the ballistics point made in the petition, there were also journalists present who said the first shot did not come from the MOVE house but from up the street. Professor and Journalist Linn Washington also said that she had sources within both the SWAT and ballistics teams that said the shot that killed officer Ramp came from the police crossfire, but that they would never admit it. Given the extreme racism and corruption of the Philadelphia Police department demonstrated during the time period, this is the most likely explanation. The alternative explanation that the department really believed MOVE to be guilty would not explain why they violated a court order by destroying the crime scene, why in court the lawyer was allowed to alter ballistics evidence, and why the records for that trial were destroyed afterwards. Remember the MOVE martyrs burned to death by the government 1985 - Release All MOVE Prisoners Now! Free all political prisoners!

878 Khaiim KellyThe MOVE members should be entitled to a fair trial just as anyone else who is a member of American society. It is unconstitutional to punish someone for their race, creed, or speech. Let us serve justice in a civilized manner, based on fairness, rather than hate. Furthermore, 30 years away from family due to one's political views should be enough. In fact, 30 years is the span of my entire life up to this moment.
879 AnonymousEnough is enough. These people have done more than enough time in jail. It's time to let them have their lives back - what is left anyway.

895 fulani carterThis was a legal lynching in a racist state. There is no way these people should have ever been convicted if not for the racist legal set up in this state. Like Mumia and the other Move members murder by the force of repression in Phili, this is just another sad reality about how black people have been imprisoned for no good reason. Let these people out now!

900 John Di ZioHello y'all again. I have read all of the comments regarding the freedom of the proven convicted murderers and I have read many distorted facts as to what happened that day in 1978. Listen, I WAS THERE and know what happened . The MOVE 9/8 are not "political prisoners" but affirmed convicted murderers as is Mumia Abu Jamal. If y'all believe otherwise you don't know the FACTS . PLEASE, for Gods sake, don't be fooled by these posters who know nothing about the TRUTH as to the Murder of Officer Ramp, the wounding of several other Officers and Firefighters and NONE were the result of friendly fire...FACT johnnypeppers@hotmail.com the Anti MOVE/Mumia Blog
