Dear Universal Studios, “At The Mountains of Madness” scares you. You fear the risk in funding such a movie. You fear the film will not bring in enough profit, when in fact a fresh film like this is exactly what the industry needs. This film will take the horror genre to new places. This is your chance to be credited as a modern day pioneer studio. This is your chance to be the studio willing to take the risk and make something original in a time of uninspired remakes and reboots. Fearing the outcome of a risky venture is understandable, but risks are unavoidable. This petition should ease your fears of the outcome somewhat, as everyone signing it is doing so as a promise to see this movie in theaters. Yes, we are asking you to take us on our word. We want to show you just how much this movie is needed. We want you to make “At The Mountains of Madness”. We want it to scare us. Sincerely, The Undersigned

I have spent my nights re-reading Lovecraft and looking at the concept art that never became a reality. The studio remains silent for now but they cannot ignore the growing number of people waiting to buy a ticket. We are not asking for another reboot because we are hungry for the terror only these mountains can provide.

Seeing the momentum behind this campaign honestly leaves me speechless. I keep thinking about how much I need to see this vision captured on film and knowing that so many of you share this hunger for the unknown makes me feel like we might actually pull this off.

I'm personally sick to death of this thing not getting any traction. The time will come when Del toro has another hit. When that happens, I hope that some of you at this studio, founded as it was on the profits of early cinematic big budget horror will take your heads from you asses and realize that profit potential isn't just based on numbers. If we had gone just on the numbers and musings of past prognosticators a lot of good movies wouldn't have seen the light of day, and money would not have been made. You passed on the dark tower. How did that work out? Are you about to wait for the rights of this property to expire and then let Netflix have it, while you make a crap mummy remake? If so, be prepared to go not so gently into the mist of time.

A movie that must be made in a very specific way—please allow Del Toro the chance to awe us through the vessel that is the mind of Lovecraft!

Lovecraft’s horror is so different from the usual, predictable horror. He also has enough great stories that (pending the success of the first one) there is an opportunity to produce a series of films. There are so many people who aren’t willing to read horror, that love watching horror movies with their friends.

I've been waiting my whole life for a good HP Lovevraft movie, and right now HP Lovecraft is huge, most people that are horror fans have heard of him and they want this movie as badly as I do, and Guillermo del Toro is the perfect director to make the book come to life on the big screen

there is a huge following for Lovevraft, this movie would make it's money back in merchandise alone.

The current cinema roster is a dead whale. Stinky, gross, and most importantly dead. Give us something fresh, new and INTERESTING, rather than more goddamn reboots or "edgy" (not) dystopian teen films; they weren't good then and they're not good now. We want something challenging and scary without resorting to jump scares or cheap gore; we want something that will actually make us question reality in the insidious and truly unsettling way Lovecraft did best.

Guillermo Del Toro would do an amazing job with H.P.Lovecraft! As he does with everything he touches.
