We, the undersigned, are residents of the Mountain Island Community who support school boundaries that keep students together as they transition from elementary to middle to high school, keep neighborhoods together, and balances student populations to best utilize school capacities. As such, we support the following measures to be taken by the Board of Education of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools: *Adoption of Mt. Holly/Huntersville Road Elementary CMS Planning Services Option #1--This boundary option reflects that the Mountain Island community spans both sides of Highway 16 and should be maintained for all schools. *Adoption of New Belmeade Middle School Community Option #2-This option sends students in the Mountain Island North-West area to Bradley Middle School in order to streamline K-12 feeder schools and relieve capacity at Coulwood Middle School. The above options provide stability for students in the K-12 feeder system, best utilize school capacities and use natural boundaries where possible, which are important CMS criteria when determining school boundaries.
