Comments: I am a civil war reenactor. I believe that if this land falls to urbanization, then we are doomed to see our history slowly fade away. Charleston is history. Why rid it of its history

Comments: I might add that Morris Island is also a sacred battlefield to those of us in northwest Ohio who appreciate the sacrifices our forebears made to protect a more perfect and just union. The 67th Ohio Volunteer Infantry, raised primarily in the Toledo area, suffered nearly 150 casualties during its time on Morris Island in 1863 and many of the men are buried there still in unknown, unmarked graves. This is truly sacred ground. Please do not allow a developer to turn this quiet site of repose for deceased Union patriots into a playground for the wealthy and elite.

Comments: It is so small and simple a thing, to save the ground over which so many brave men died serving our nation, and yet so monumental will be the loss, if this same ground is sullied with yet another collection of vanity houses, for people who will ultimately take the view for granted anyway, as they scurry about in their selfish little lives.

Comments: More even than Ellis Island, here the promise of citizenship was purchased with valor and the American claim established. Condos & minigolf are a sleezeball idiocy at this hallowed site.

Comments: Heavy casualties were taken by the 62nd and 67th OVI during the July 18th assault on Battery Wagner. A number of those casualties came from my home county. There is plenty of waterfront property in SC to develop so that people can have a day at the beach. Leave this piece of real estate alone.

Comments: I feel strongly against this type of development! Charleston has grown too much as it is, and it is the historical importance of such a place as Morris Island that helped make Charlston what it is today. We owe it to 'her' to keep her safe! FIGHT! It is time for the good guys to have a notch in their belt!
