His Majesty Mohammed VI King of Morocco In the name of God the Compassionate, the Benevolent Your Majesty, Our warmest greetings and love from the United States of America and sincere congratulations on your achievements for our beloved Morocco on a thriving economy. It is our hope that your majesty will hear our distant cry for help and draw your attention to this ever-growing problem that the Moroccan community faces in the USA. Our past complaints about Royal Air Morocco on the subject have faded without results and this open letter to your majesty is one more try to call on your administration to hear and act on our issues. The Moroccan community in the United State has been affected by the economy and it is struggling to make ends meet. The eroding job market and lack of liquidity is among many factors that have changed the spending habits of many citizens in this country. I am confident that your majesty’s administration has noticed the impact of money transfers and remittances to Morocco as a correlation of these factors. As it relates to the subject at hand, Airlines have been offering special discounts to promote travel and stimulate spending. While these offers help Moroccan Americans to move about the USA, they lack the connections to our Morocco and our only alternative is Royal Air Morocco. With no other options, Moroccans in the USA have to resort to the only Airline that takes them home and today more than ever it has become a crisis. Skyrocketing passenger complaints over non-competitive pricing, service quality, safety, professionalism, and delays are few words that describe our experience with Royal Air Morocco. Every year as we approach the vacation season, the time of many Moroccans to head home to their families, our anxiety grows. For many of us, going to Morocco this summer is a $10,000 airfare budget for a family of five with Royal Air Morocco. When we add other expenses associated to our stay in Morocco, the figures exceed $20,000. While the non-competitive rates of Royal Air Morocco is a component of our frustration, other most basic consumer rights such as responding to passengers’ complaints are not attended to by RAM. When other airline get back to their passengers with a nice apology letter, maybe even a coupon or voucher for free future flight, Royal Air Morocco shouts at it’s passengers and slams doors on their faces or at best, does not reply to our questions. It is our hope your majesty that you will land us a helping hand with this matter. All we ask for is that Royal Air Morocco becomes competitive with other airlines and not take advantage of its monopoly over US-Morocco air routes. We also believe that it is time for RAM's management to get a direct message from your majesty that they need to act professional with their passengers. As a global airline, RAM’s service quality and comfort is a far cry from what we experience with other companies. We pray God Almighty to guide you along the path of success and make steady your steps in your reign.
