While people now, unlike ever before, disagree over many issues---either on the essence of agreement or prudential consequences in concrete act---this award flies in the face of the overwhelming number of citizens in both countries who hold to the fundamental basis of civilization as we have known it, viz. the Judeo-Christian ethic and the principles clearly understood in the principles of English law and praxis. Please reconsider such a choice for the good of the next generations if for no other reason. Thank you.Flag

Well as for me, it is not a surprised that this type of behaviour in people to promote evil as good and good as evil. Canada has been going towards the precipice of hell each day. Many people have educated themselves into imbecility. Where Common sense no longer the norm. We have replaced the True God for a false god such as the Charter of Rights and Freedom. July 1st is Canada Day, and my wife and I and many of our friends do not share the sentiment of the majority of Canadians that we live in a great liberated, free country. I dare say we are not free, where we as Christians have no rights to free speech, religion, expression and so on. This is not the Canada that I have inherited from my great great great fathers. So thus, by honoring Mortgentyler we are honouring the murder of babies. Way to go Canada.Flag

There are many lies about abortion as for instance in my country ( Argentina ) they say that there are 500.000 clandestine abortions per year. How do they know if they are clandestine Abortion is an ideological goal, not a real, urgent need, and it is a crime Thank you very much ! God bless you !Flag

Name: Cecilia Roders on Jul 6, 2008What City do you live in: KentWhat State do you live in: WashingtonWhat Country do you live in: USComments: I understand that many rules of protocol had to be broken in order to give Mr. Morgentaler the Order of Canada. I also know that many pro-aborts have been screaming for years about how it is "blasphemy" (what an odd word for secular people to use) that Mr. Morgentaler had yet not received this award. They have been pushing for him to receive it, even though there are a number of grounds on which he does not qualify. The reason they want this so bad, even though it is not appropriate, is that they are not satisfied just to have abortion legal in Canada. They want to control the information about abortion that is available in the society, stop debate on the issue, silence the opposition, and determine the cultural view of abortion in Canadian society. Giving the highest civilian honor in Canada to a top abortionist would go a long way to saying that Canada is pro-abort and there is no doubt about it. The Order of Canada is supposed to be a unifying thing. But much as pro-aborts wish they could force the country to be unified in their side of this issue, Canadian society remains divided. Many Canadians still believe that abortion is a violent act of murder on a defenseless child. Many women who've had abortions really regret it and feel that it has damaged their lives, rather than improved them. NO amount of wishing, or hyperbole talk, on the part of pro-aborts is going to change that. Abortion remains a divisive issue. It probably always will, at least until Christ comes back. To change the rules of protocol on the Order of Canada, just to please one small faction that wants to control how society thinks, is quite a cowardly act of caving in to political pressure. Please change this decision and rescind this decision, so that past people who received this award will no longer give it back and caring Canadians will no longer be ashamed of what their country is doing. Thank you, Ceecee P. S. I lived in Canada for six years and I loved it up there. Please protect freedom of speech in your country. I hear it is under attack up there now. I hear that quoting the wrong Bible verse can get you charged with a hate crime. That degrades the meaning of the term "hate crime" and threatens to render it meaningless. Please change that. I don't want gays to be injured or physically attacked, but nobody has the right to be above criticism. When someone is granted such a right, freedom of speech is dead in the water. So please protect freedom of speech in your country. Thank you.Flag
