The recent appointment of Henry Morgentaler to the Order of Canada has, however, disappointed me in a way that Canada seems not know where it stands for in the eyes of the world.     Comments: As we become more aware of - and alarmed by- the declining birth rate in Western nations, it seems odd that your country would actually laud someone who has assisted this decline. Not even to mention the harm that abortion does to women long term emotionally, mentally and often physically as well as, very obviously, the death of the children innocently involved in the procedure. Mr Morgentaler has not contributed anything outstanding, giving any service to your nation other than to harm it. What is worthy of honoring in *that*

    Comments: As a Canadian I am deeply embarrassed at the low esteem given to the Order of Canada by the apparently biased committee who enforced this decision to bestow it on Henry Morgantaler. That man has personally brought about the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Canadian Citizens in the wombs of their mothers. He has also manipulated the weak Canadian system for his own accumulation of wealth and inexplicable desire to deny life to innocent babies in spite of his own life being saved from the Nazi death camp. I will pray for his conversion before he departs this life.

I feel as equally at home in Canada as I do in the U.S.; i am embarrassed by this decision and I know other Canadians who are embarrassed by it. Obviously, this was an ill-conceived idea. The Order of Canada should be rescinded before more damage is done. Perhaps PM Harper should look into this.

My nationality is American and Cuban descent, but I recognize and believe ardently that such a noble and prestigious award from the great and beautiful country that is Canada should never be awarded to someone who holds such low and degenerate beliefs and practices as this man Morgentaler does. I add my name to this petition in the great hopes you will take my intention and signature here very seriously and finally act for the well-being, both spiritual and temporal of all the citizens of Canada. This very unfortunate episode is very upsetting to me, as I personally have beloved friends living in Canada and also from my own personal experience of living with relative who after having committed an abortion, has lived a very volatile and negative, hateful-at-times, turbulent life, affecting everyone living with her with much tragedy and sorrow.
