How can it be 'part of the good old English game' when television directors refuse to show replays of the very challenge in question? On 27th February 2010, yet another horrendous tackle occurred in the Barclay's Premier League sparking wide-spread comment and debate. These tackles have no place within the modern game, and allowing them to continue threatens not only the safety of footballers, but the reputation and continued success of the Premiership. We, the undersigned, believe that challenges like the one in question are unacceptable. We believe they are an example of hot-headedness, immaturity, lack of character and understanding of the game; bringing the sport into disrepute and setting a bad example for the many leagues throughout the UK that follow the Premiership. We believe that new legislation must be brought in to ensure a higher level of protection for Premier League footballers.
