With July 1 falling on Tuesday this year, NDP MPP Peter Kormos wants next Monday to be a statutory holiday so Ontarians can enjoy a true long weekend.
"Ontarians deserve some time off," the Niagara Centre MPP said as he lolled in a lawn chair at Queen's Park. "My bill would let people spend time with their families, spend money in our tourist areas and even think about who to vote for in the coming provincial election!"
The Niagara Centre MPP today introduced a bill that would make June 30, 2003 an official holiday. In the longer term, the NDP's balanced budget platform calls for the creation of two additional long weekends.
We therefore request that June 30th, 2003 be made an official holiday. |
