MOTION PICTURE, TELEVISION AND DIGITAL MEDIA
PRODUCTION INCENTIVES
WHEREAS: Florida has been an important motion picture production location and production state for well over 100 years; and
WHEREAS: Florida offers motion picture production locations which cannot be found or duplicated in other parts of the United States; and
WHEREAS: Motion picture and television production provides significant economic benefits to the communities in which filming occurs; and
WHEREAS: Florida has one of the largest and most respected film and entertainment education programs; and
WHEREAS: Motion picture and television production affords a unique capability to positively impact tourism in the communities in which filming occurs; and
WHEREAS: Florida, historically the third largest film production center in the United States, now is facing increasing competition from other countries and U.S. states that have implemented aggressive film production incentive programs; and
WHEREAS: Florida is experiencing an across-the-board loss of motion picture and television production opportunities to countries and other U.S. states with film production incentive programs; and
WHEREAS: Motion picture and television production is an environmentally friendly and non-polluting industry;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that we the undersigned, Florida residents and members of the Florida television and motion picture industry, do hereby support the state entertainment industry financial incentive legislation that will reinvigorate motion picture and television production in the state of Florida.
