This petition/cause is intended to promote awareness to this serious issue. A copy of the actual WGH water analysis can be found in the Moose Cree Education Comprehensive Report or a copy can be made available to you by e-mailing beneathstillwaters@mail.com
****UPDATE****
WGH recently posted a press release assuring the public that \"everything is fine\" according to recent tests from our water plant. I would just like to note that on page nine of the water analysis it states that \"Chemical standards ONLY include benzo(a)pyrene of the PAH compounds listed above. Therefore it is likely that PAH chemicals WOULD BE UNDETECTED by testing under the current provincial standards.\" Which would mean that the current testing being done at our water plant would not show/detect these dangerous PAH compounds. Assurance that \'everything is fine\' cannot be accepted until further testing is done. The water analysis that this petition is based on clearly shows that these dangerous compounds have been detected in the waters surrounding Moose Factory Island and this poses a real threat to our drinking water. \"If untreated, this would be flowing into our drinking water.\" (also found on pg.9)
When I first came across this water analysis the word carcinogenic jumped out at me...when I looked it up and I found it meant cancer-causing I spent a lot of time researching the compounds and the health risks involved. I was shocked that there was no public notice made to inform the community. I initated this petition as a concerned community member and as a mom. Even if there is the slightest risk to our health than doesn\'t that deserved to be thoroughly looked into I stand firm behind this petition and feel that it is justified.
Thank-you to all those that have signed. More and more are signing everyday...making this campaign stronger and will ensure that we will be heard and action will be taken to address the situation.
