Are you frustrated with the traffic towards Monton Green from Half Edge Lane at evening rush hour?
Those of you like me who have been travelling this route at the same time for years, may have noticed that since Tesco opened on Monton Rd, and more importantly the installation of a second pelican crossing, traffic has ground to a standstill.
It can take me 20 minutes to do the short journey from Clarendon Road to Monton Green.
On observation it is obvious what the problem is, there is a constant stream of usually solo pedestrians coming out of/going to Tesco around tea time, there is hardly any delay between pressing the button and the lights turning red.
Surely a longer delay would help the traffic flow.
There is another pelican crossing just 50 metres down the road (for a small village!), could these not be set to work in tandem.
Maybe just a zebra crossing?
I agree there is a need for pedestrian safety, but equally there is a need for smooth traffic flow.
Drivers often speed off down Parrin Lane or Folly Lane when finally through the congestion to ease the built up frustration and make up lost time.
All we ask is for some common sense to be used by our town planners.
Thanks for looking and please sign up if you too are getting peed off with it all.
