Name: Barbara Woodcox on Dec 30, 2004State: OHCountry: USComments: Lenders for mortgages and student loans should be required to issue monthly statements so consumers can monitor accounts. Imagine paying on a mortgage for 30 years and at the end you are told you owe thousands of dollars in interest and fees. You have no recourse because you can't prove you don't owe. With monthly statements, people can detect and correct accounting errors in a timely manner.Flag

Name: Cindy Schnackel on Jan 8, 2005State: OKCountry: USComments: There are frequent abuses by lenders reported to housing-related consumer advocacy sites. Many of them are committed by a home builder's lending company. The author of the petition seems to know a great deal about how mortages should work...I urge her/him to visit some housing related consumer sites like hadd.com hobb.org and kbhomesucks.com The corruption and/or questionable business practice problem does not stop at one industry, and many times is intertwined with related industries.Flag
