Name: Tegan Dobbie on Apr 23, 2007Comments: This move, along with the rest of the university's actions in reference to student parking this year, are simply disgusting attacks on students who must drive and park their cars in order to study and sit exams. During exams, most students take time off their part time work. This leaves them poorer than ever during the exam period, making it harder for some students to find the money to eat properly during the time where they should be taking care of their health. A further cost of $20 during the exam period will put students in financial difficulty. What will be the policy if a stressed student arrives with no money, their wallet forgotten at home No parking, and miss your exam Or park half an hours walk away, and just be late Perhaps just park ilegally and wear the fine. This move is a further example of Monash University's lack of respect for its students and their wellbeing.Flag

Name: Stephen Kunz on Apr 23, 2007Comments: We students go through a lot to get our degrees. We work part time to sustain ourselves, keep a roof above our heads and food on the table, and often have to go without textbooks or lunch, as we can't afford both. We're confronted with an uncertain future burdened with study-related debt and are subject to great amounts of stress at the ends of each semester. A stress that is further compounded by the university pulling this upon us, at a time when parking fees have already increased by over 250%. It's a penny-pinching affront to the needs of students that are already being squeezed from all sides.Flag

Name: Jill Cox on Apr 23, 2007Comments: It is grossly unfair that students should have to pay a specificly set parking fee simply for finishing thier studies for the semester or year. There are already a number of other fee increases and new fees that have hit students this year due to lack of funding, and it is getting too hard to do basic things such as travel to classes, expecially for people who support themselves.Flag
