Name: David Anderson on Nov 25, 2009Comments: I am currently on my year abroad in Berlin, so far it has been an amazing experience and if the Modern Languages degrees at Sussex were to be axed this type of opportunity would be available to far fewer people. For me studying languages at Sussex has been both challenging and extremely rewarding and I believe it would be a great shame if future students were deprived of the option of taking a languages degree.Flag

Knowledge of a foreign language gives you access to the intellectual achievements and social developments of the countries where the target languages are spoken. In addition, the ability to speak a second language and the experience of having spent time studying or working abroad are major assets in the employment market."Flag

Name: Alex Blackman on Nov 26, 2009Comments: This is absolutely ridiculous. Once again without consultation Sussex University has made another purely money motivated decision. Soon all Universities will be doing business studies and economics and then maybe Joanne Wright and the rest of the extortionately overpaid top brass will be happy, having taken away yet another part of once made Sussex University a place students were proud to be a part of.Flag
