With the President in town today and many conferences taking place in St. Paul, this week is CRITICAL in the debate for 2nd Amendment Rights in MN. If you are not paying attention, you should be. But I'm guessing if you are on this sight, you probably are paying attention, so that is a good thing;) Just know that every bit that everyone does is important. Every voice counts. Every signature matters.I watch what is happening in NY right now and it is scary. The people are refusing to give up their guns. They believe the new laws are unconstitutional and I guess I don't blame them, but it's getting scary. But the funny thing, is that people bring up little points that keep reminding me of what it's REALLY about: CONTROL You see, New Yorkers are even still lamenting the fact that they can't go and buy a 20 oz. On the 2nd night of having this petition live, we now have the signatures to begin gaining some local media attention...which is an important step when making political moves. Still important is networking, but this is the easiest type of networking to do...something that many of us have in common and shared interest: Not only Guns, Shooting Sports and related activities, but Freedom granted to us through the United States Constitution. I've met those who don't care for guns, but liberty and freedom are more important to them...therefore, they side with the gun-owners.I will touch on the "verbiage" of the petition in another post, but for now, will leave my opinions in the blog portion. Feel free to comment. I am not a "gun nut", nor am I some crazy "prepper". A few hours later and we have it...a solid foundation to launch a real head-turner in St. Paul. So...Here we go!This might start out like a snowball, but slow and steady wins the race. It's important to me that we blast this out to all groups of relevant people that we know...as it has been proven that these things can spread when people feel their rights are at stake. Well, the place is here and the place is here.You know, I have heard plenty of valid arguments as to why this legislation is going to fail or become diluted at the federal level, mainly because of the GOP-dominated Congress and the DFL'ers that are on the fench. However, MN is a different story.Look to NY, CA, CT, MA, etc. I am not worried about that type of scenerio here. However, I AM concerned with the present imbalance of power in the state of Minnesota right now.
