It has come to our attention that when Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games (MMORPGs) start losing steam, their servers are shut down by the company and the game is, for all intents and purposes, dead. Games like Shadowbane, Earth & Beyond, Wish, Matrix Online, Tabula Rasa, Auto Assault, and Star Wars Galaxies (starting December 15, 2011 when servers are shut down) will never be played again, despite having a core fanbase, albeit a small one. We ask you to point to ANY other genre or type of video game that you can spend hundreds of dollars on (base game & monthly fees), only to never be able to play it again just because its online population dwindles. Instead, these content-rich games will rot on our shelves, and cannot even be sold back to game stores. What we ask is that you program in a fix for this problem in all future MMORPGs as an insurance for those who pay their hard earned money every month. 1) We demand single-player campaigns that allow you to solo in the worlds offline once online servers are shut down. 2) We demand the ability to still form groups by starting our own servers through LAN capability, the way online PC gaming used to work. In this way, you can continue to release content or even micro-transactions through online stores for purchases of new items, if you desire. However if you choose to abandon the game altogether, we may still be able to play it. As paying customers of MMORPGs, we, the undersigned, have spent countless dollars keeping your servers afloat, and all we have to show for it now are boxes and game discs collecting dust.
