Background:

During the past several years there have been several incidents of fans falling from upper levels to the seats or concourse below while trying to catch foul balls. Some have sustained major injuries such as skull fractures, while others have lost their lives while chasing their souvenir ball.

Millions of people attend MLB games (2010 season the top 5 teams had a combined attendance of almost 14 1/2 million people). The ratio of spectator to incident is very small, however you cannot put a price on a father, a husband, a human being.

Petition:
This petition calls for the installation of netting at each MLB ball pack that will catch falling fans should they topple over the protective railing. This could easily be constructed and attached to the existing structure and can be installed below the line of sight so as not to interfere with viewing of the game.

By breaking the fall, it may also allow ball clubs to avoid lawsuits such as the woman who fell over the railing at the Ranger's Ballpark in 1994, survived and sued.

To prevent heartache felt by the family, friends, players, and staff at the ball parks, help save lives by installing safety netting as soon as possible at all MLB ballparks.

Sincerely,
Fans of Major League Baseball.
