Dear Mr. Faulconer and other Public Officials, This petition is on behalf of numerous Mission Beach homeowners, renters, and business owners who live and/or work near Santa Clara Point. As you probably are aware, the parking in this area is at a premium. There simply aren't enough spaces for residents at their homes, whether they live in rentals or homes they own. Obviously over the years, car ownership has increased and many homes and rental units have more than one resident with a vehicle. Street parking is ridiculously difficult to find as well. In the past, many of us have relied on the parking available in the Santa Clara Point parking lot for overnight parking. It has always been challenging to find spots that aren't marked "No Parking 2-4 am" but recently the situation was made virtually impossible by the city restricting an additional row of parking spots that were once available for overnight parking. This lack of parking affects renters, home owners, and business people who rent seasonal units. The situation worsens by the day during the summer season and rental units are filled with visitors who have more cars than parking spaces at their units. We are asking the city to remove the ban on parking from 2-4 am in the Santa Clara lot. Because of recent loss of the extra spaces, this is an extremely TIME-SENSITIVE issue. We urge you to act quickly on this and help resolve an issue that affects us all nightly.
