Save The Mission Arts Club

The Mission Arts Club in Hackney Wick is in jeopardy, due to a demand for business rates going back nearly 3 years! If you have been to a Mission event or have benefited from it in any way, now is the time to show your support. Hackney Council have instigated court proceedings against the Mission and matters are serious; we NEED to get the Council to waive the rates and give us time to get a re-valuation based on its exclusive use as a not for profit arts club. The members have to back to court in mid February, please show your support. I you agree with the following statement, please sign below. “The Mission has been operating as a not for profit arts club for the last two and a half years and provides a valuable service to the local community. I want Hackney Council to reconsider it’s decision to treat it as a business.”

The Mission Arts club is a not for profit group that provides free space for artists in a low income. The members and friends of The Mission Arts Club have made possible, developed and supported the practice of the arts in the Old Eton Mission building for over two years, transforming in this period of time a once abandoned and forgotten space into artists studios, space for workshops, art events and a platform for artists to to develop their practice
