To the Copper Coast Council, The petition of Cat and Dog owners and concerned residents of the Copper Coast Council area draws to the attention of Copper Coast Council their objection against the Draft By-Laws 5 and 6. The residents are opposed to the proposed limits on Cat Numbers to 2, the limitations being placed on dog owners with regard to adequate exercising of dogs off leash, and are against the enforcement powers of the Dog and Cat management officer being increased to an unspecified level that may include forcibly removing a Cat or Dog and destroying it, or entering a private residence to assess the 'appropriateness' of the property. The residents to not beleive the draft by-laws will assist in any way in regards to Dog and Cat management and will result in many more unwanted, neglected and abandoned animals. The petitioners therefore request that the Draft By-laws 5 and 6 not be adopted and any future Dog and Cat laws are only considered after extensive consultation with the Copper Coast Council residents.
