Rancho Palos Verdes - Miraleste community seeks funding for Armed Police and High Tech Police Support
Dear Carolyn Lehr - City Manager of Manager of Rancho Palos Verdes
Based on the LAPD's Crime Mapping Statistics (www.crimemapping.com), Crime in our community especially in the Miraleste area has increased dramatically during the week of April 15, 2013 through April 23, 2013. The area has experienced 76 crimes in less than one week. We recently has a Murder/Homicide on Miraleste Drive on April 23, 2013 that is currently being investigated. Per these statistics, crime is steadily increasing in the entire Palos Verdes Peninsula.
Our community especially the Miraleste area is deeply concerned about the ongoing escalation of brazen crime. The impact of these recent events is having a profound effect on our community and the general sense of feeling safe and protected in our neighborhood. We are currently exchanging emails voicing our concerns and yet nothing is being done! Every other day there seems to be an increase in helicopters, sirens and other activates. All of these escalations in crime are a continuous reminder that something has definitely changed.
Carolyn, our community of homeowners for the entire peninsula especially the Miraleste area of Rancho Palos Verdes seeks more police protection and a unified support from our local government in assisting us with the escalation of crime on the peninsula. We have options to review with you that include opening a Sheriff's sub-station in the Miraleste Plaza area and the other option is for us to hire our own armed private police service. Our group is open to any recommendations that you, Captain Bolin, and our city council may also suggest to us. we want to work with you as a team to be proactive in supporting you.
