Name: Stephanie Skar on Jul 20, 2008Comments: My pit rocky is one of the best animals I have ever had! He is so sweet and so kind and I think the owner makes the dog into what they want no matter what the breed. Obviously pits have been a focus of attention due to their strenth and lock jaw. Its unfair to assume all pits are like this.Flag

Her PitBull is 70 ilbs and listens to her 45 ilb 5 year old daughter when its time to come home, eat, or get into his kennel. He runs throughout the yard while my sisters kids play in the pool or on the swing set. He is a PitBull but he doesnt deserve the REP your giving him. Its the BREEDERS not the breed!!!Flag

Name: Jen Lopez on Sep 16, 2009Comments: Please use common sense and good judgment in working to enforce current laws and put new laws in place that hold the owners accountable for the behavior of their dogs of all breeds. Banning a few breeds or types of dogs will do nothing but strip responsible Americans of their rights to own the dog of their choice. It is totally un- American to apply bigotry and stereotypes to dog ownership. The facts are that negligent owners who are responsible for all dog attacks will not obey bsl, or will move on to another breed that is not on the list, thereby creating a new problem entirely. If bsl goes through it will need to continuously be updated with new breeds such as akitas, mastiffs, boxers, dobermans, bulldogs ect, as these breeds will quickly become the "pit bull" of the future in irresponsible owners hands. And eventually Americans will be reduced to a select few toy breeds that we are allowed to own. The root of the problem needs to be addressed instead which is the mass over breeding of dogs in this country by irresponsible breeders who do no health or temperament testing and sell dogs to the wrong sort of owners. If mandatory spay and neuter and breeding licensing and fees are required by law, this will by far be the best way to control the pet population and reduce dog bites. Another idea is requiring a test and background check to buy adopt a dog. There are so many steps that should be taken rather than an ineffective and unfair breed ban.Flag

Name: Laurel Ashley on Apr 10, 2010Comments: BSL is unconstitutional and does not address the real issue. Making education and training resources and spay/neuter clinics available is a more effective approach. All owners need to be accountable for their dogs behavior. Laws need to protect dogs from misuse and abuse. Stopping puppy mills and discouraging backyard breeding would benefit animals and humans alike.Flag

Every dog is capable of hurting people. Every human could hurt someone...you going to ban everyone from living in Minnesota? IdiotsFlag
