Comments: please don't go through with the breed ban. we own 2 rotties and they are big babies that love kids. it would be wrong to punish these breeds for the stupidity of the people thanks for your consideration

Comments: I think this law should be banned! I am the owner of an american pit bull. She is 7 years old and wouldn't hurt a fly. It all depends on how a dog is raised and would be totally wrong to have good dogs put down because of people who don't take the time to socialize their pits and any other breed that need training. If someone has a dog they need to make sure they have the time and committment to raise them properly. Again, please do not ban animals because of their owners. I am totally against this.

Comments: This is a poorly crafted law, based on a knee jerk reaction. Please punish the owners not the breed. As any pet owner should know it is the owner that causes the pet to act in a specific manner, not some general breed characteristic.

Comments: This ban is absurd! It wasn't too long ago German Shepherds and Dobermans were the most dangerous animals on the planet. A toy poodle can be made vicious under the right circumstances. Punish the offender not the public.

Comments: Its not the breed that is dangerous, it's the owners who don't have a clue as to how to raise a puppy properly and the idiots who breed without knowing what they are doing; breeding bad temperaments, not socializing the pups, not teaching the pups to live in this world. Maybe we need to ban some types of political leaders as well who don't know what they are doing.

Comments: When are people going to stop and realize that bans don't help if anything it creates more problems. If they actually got tougher on the sub-humans who mis-treat these dogs and the irresponsible owners, then things will change. As it stands now, you get harsher punishment for stealing then abusing an animal in any way. BSL is not funny , it is not a game , and ANY DOG mix/ pure can be put on that list at any time. They don't even have to do anything. The government can impliment any dog breed/mix because of what it looks like / that something happened somewhere else etc. It is time to step up and fight back. Don't sit back and let the government tell you what legal property you can or can't have.... this isn't drugs / guns etc. It is about dogs that any other person can have legally IF it isn't on that list. Would you let them tell you that you can't have a car A house Dishes Clothes Lawnmower No Then why are people sitting back and believeing liars like the media / government / PETA / people who don't know breeds of dogs / people who don't like dogs or certain breeds because of liars I for one will NOT take this sitting down. Not when it started / not now / not ever. I am a responsible owner of rottweilers and I refuse to let any government bully me into abandoning my dogs either by giving them away / or killing them just because of stupidity. More humans kill everyday then ANY breed or breeds of dogs combined. Humans are suppose to be more intelligent then dogs... so why is it they are held to a higher standard with more to loose then a human doing worse with knowing write from wrong and making a decision to kill / harm in some way A drunk driver can kill someone and they are givin a slap on the wrist / some jail time ( maybe ) and allowed to drive again when released. Think about it If an " intelligent " speices can get away with killing etc. why is a " dumb" animal held more accountable for something they don't plan Most dog attacks are because of human error of some sort. But the animal is the one who pays. Where is ownership accountability

Comments: As someone who's had interactions with a friend's Chows on multiple and consistent occasions over years, I'm completely dismayed that Minnesota is considering banning them. I know these dogs to be friendly, well-behaved, and obedient. No doubt there are some sick dog owners out there, training this breed to be nasty and dangerous, but that is always the case with a minority of dog owners. Please don't let the actions of these cruel and misguided owners prevent every Minnesotan from having the opportunity to form the rewarding and healthy pet/owner relationships that are so very possible with these dogs. Thank you.

Comments: I am a dog groomer. And every single dog that I have ever come across that is aggressive has an IGNORANT and ARROGANT OWNER!!!! The OWNERS are responsible for mistreating the dog DELIBERATELY to make the dog mean. The "MACHO" man is almost always there, wanting his dog to be mean, and then laughing about it afterwards. There needs to be legislation to ban IDIOTIC owners, not the dog breed. Every single dog breed has in it the nice dog inside. But it takes a good owner to bring it out.

Comments: Having worked in the Maui Humane Society for one and a half years, I have worked with all of these breeds. A large amount of them were pitbulls as they are used for wild pig hunting there. All I can say is it's not the dog, it's the owner. Don't punish me and my dogs for the ignorance of others!

Comments: Lets pay closer attention to the source of the problem rather than to the result of that problem. If Pit bulls are banned then these dangerous dog owners will simply find another type of dog to mistreat and basically train to be dangerous. Banning pit bulls does nothing for our communities.

Comments: I would just like to say that I have a rescued pitt bull who is hands-down the best dog I've ever had. She is sweet and loving and loyal and has never even attempted to bite anyone. She is great with people of all ages, including children, and she's great with other dogs. This ban would unfairly discriminate against many wonderful pets based on isolated cases. Ultimately, the problem lies in the dog owner, not the dog.

Comments: Breed specific legislation will NOT prevent dog bites / attacks - education will. Many of the breeds you propose to ban are therapy dogs, helping people lead better lives. One such dog, Ruby, a pit bull, was inducted into the MN Dog Hall of Fame for her therapy work. It would be a very sad day if these wonderful dogs were not allowed to do their jobs, and simply killed, because ignorant people make ill-conceived laws. Let us stop all forms of discrimination and educate ourselves.

Comments: Mr. Lesch, it is the duty of every dog owner to properly socialize their pet. The breed of the dog makes no difference. When I worked as a groomer, I was bitten repeatedly by a number of lap dogs, yet I never had any trouble with the breeds you want to ban. Rottweilers and pit bulls especially do not deserve their reputation. Most of them are loving, obediant family pets. The fault, Mr. Lesch, is with the owners. Ban them!

Comments: This is outrageous! It's NOT the breed of dog that is dangerous, it's how they are raised. It's the owners fault for raising them to purposely be aggressive and mean. This is not fair for those pet lovers who adore these breeds and have successfully raised them before. With a little tender care, these breeds can be just as affectionate as a Lab or any other dog for that matter.

Comments: Animals (specifically these breeds of dogs) are not inherently evil. It is the conditions in which they are raised that affects their personality. Do not ban these dogs from having the loving homes they deserve here in Minnesota. And don't deprive the more common, responsible residents of this state of the incredible love and companionship these breeds provide. If you do, isn't it like expelling an entire school of children simply because one student made a threatening move towards an authority figure

Comments: I have grown up with pitts and rotts my whole life and none of them ever anyone or another animal but the cocker spaniel that lives down the block has bitten 4 other dogs but yet your not trying to ban them because they are supposed to be "good" natured dogs. It's the environment in which they are raised, not their breed that determines how they are when they grow up. In the cases where a dog has attacked someone or gone after another dog it's almost always because they were either being threatened in some way or it's because their owner raised them that way and/or abused them which makes the dog a victim too. This ban in unjust and unconstitutional and should not be allowed to be passed.

Comments: sorry, it isn't the dogs, get the stupid two legged animals that made these poor dogs that way. Don't kill off our puppies. When I was first looking for a partner 20 years ago, the Rottweiler was the only dog that could be both a protector as well as a family dog. It was the Americans that caused the difference in the breed. I have Corgis now, are they next on the list of vicious dogs
