Anonymous | I believe that making club tournaments non competitive is nonsense, due to the fact that children are naturaly competitve and this does not help them progress in football. How will they know when they have achieved success in the sport, or how to give their best to achieve a target to progress their development!

Gareth Raymond | I find the idea of preventing competitive tournaments to be ill conceived and totally against the majority of willing participants that take part in these events. Furthermore, not to allow this completive element removes an essential fund raising opportunity for grass roots football, as applicants to such events will dry up without the incentive of material recognition. The ever increasing charges that being incurred by clubs to attain the various demands is coming to point where it is counterproductive to the successful organisation of a junior football club.

graham | Competition is realiy healthy players, theres no achievement in playing friendlies every week. There's no overall goal to work too eaither for each player.
robert jenkins | i disagree with non competitive tournaments ,i wonder what bright spark came up with that idea .Football is COMPETITIVE.
Anonymous | I run an under 13's girls team made up of girls aged 10, 11 & 12. This ruling not only prevents the 10 year old girls playing but the whole team as without the 10 yr olds I do not have enough players to field a team in tournaments therefore going against the ethos of encouraging as many children as possible participating in sport.
Anonymous | Tournaments are a fun way for all the children to get together!
H Eger | It is unfair, as all other sports children under 11 can compete at, so why should football be so different.
Keith Brannan | Wake up FAW!!!.
S. WILLIAMS |
mark lewis | taking away the competitive side of any football match takes away the football and what the game is all about
Anonymous | P.C. taken too far yet again.
Richard Miller | Having a medal for turning up to a tournament does not go any way to improve the children's development. It could have the reverse effect on the children by making them complacent and not try at all because they know they will get something for doing the bare minimum.
Trevor Macario | How are the children to learn the importance of competition when this is being taken away from them. This is the problem with this country at the moment, too many people sticking their noses in where they are not needed and have nothing better to do with their lives. If they are not happy about their child in football competition, take them to a library.
Robert Seaward | What a ludicrous idea. Life is competivie and chlildren will naturally compet. Foorball and other sport is a way of encouraging them to do so in a controlled and managed environment.

c.green | the children want a competative game otherwise what's the point? parent of a 6 year old - all children are naturally competative!
Jeff Davies | I don't think the th FAW know what goes on at the grass roots of football. They certainly don't support it -- just impose stupid rules such as this.
DAMIEN DAVIES | CRAZY DECISION!NO WINNERS OR LOSERS IN TOURNAMENTS,WHOVER MADE THIS DECISION NEEDS TO HAVE HIS HEAD TESTED,WHY CHANGE SOMETHING THATS WORKED FOR YEARS,STOP TRYING BEING POLITICLY CORRECT,YOU ARE TAKING ALL COMPETIVNESS OUT OF TOURNAMENTS,ALL THE PARENTS AND KIDS ARE FED UP WITH THIS SILLY RULE,DONT RUIN OUR BEAUTIFUL GAME FAW,WAKE UP OR GET OUT!
Mark Cooper |
Robert Lloyd | School encourage competitiveness but the Welsh FA go the opposite, leave the children enjoy themselves channels your thought onto the abuse that come from the lines ie parents,

| 190 | Anonymous | let the clubs chose what they want to do. sport is competitive
teams are not forced to enter competitive competions. and we play friendly football all season long which can get boring and more kids will lose interest if we cant win anything. If you want to improve grassroots football stampdown on abusive parants and coaches not the kids enjoyment. FAW WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Anonymous | Life is competetive. By not allowing children to take part in competetive events, you are depriving them of a life experience and thereby possibly damaging them more.

Pamela M Thirwell | I absolutely agree. It gives children who may never do much academically a chance to win something and gives those academically gifted a realization that there are other ways to win besides passing exams.

David Nash | Its is important for all children to learn to win & lose gracefully - & we wonder why we are not in the same league as the Russians, Americans & can you imagine the Australians playing non competitive sport! This is the grass roots & this is where kids learn
paul Rydquist | Until tiddlywinks becomes an olympic sport my son will continue to play all competative sport some of which he will lose. The school playground is every bit as combative as any game in sport will they ban that too its stupid
Anonymous | Half of our usual tournaments have been cancelled this season due to the "fun day" ruling. Hardly a way to encourage children to participate in sport!
