一群《明報》前員工的聲明
我們是一群《明報》前員工。《明報》突然撤換總編輯劉進圖先生，空降一名來自東南亞的人接任，這決定令我們十分擔憂本港的新聞自由倒退。
有報道指事件導火線是《明報》編採部近期大篇幅報道免費電視牌事件，包括披露行政會議文件佐證政府處理不當；《明報》集團管理層叫收歛，編採部沒理會。若報道屬實，便嚴重損害新聞工作者發掘真相、監督政府的天職，一個傳媒機構越向權力低頭，只會越失去公眾信任，淪為喉舌。
《明報》集團馬來西亞老闆在中國大陸商業投資繁多，難免令人懷疑今次撤換總編輯，是徹底整頓《明報》之始。
我們呼籲《明報》管理層回應現職員工兩點要求﹕(1)交代撤換總編輯原因，及(2)承諾編採方針不變，做好傳媒監察社會的角色。
有人可能認為，今次只是私人機構內部人事調動而已，不必大驚小怪。我們希望社會明白，香港若失去了新聞自由，其他自由亦會被逐步蠶食，這不是我們樂見的香港發展。
