An open letter to Cal Pump Danner Mfg. Inc. and WaveRep®
On behalf of the Pond Supply Industry we appeal to you regarding the pricing benefit and solidarity being offered to a select few recently formed wholesalers who in turn share that incomparable price and solidarity with a select few retailers.
The position of the undersigned:
Cal Pump Co. and Eugene Danner Manufacturing thru WaveRep® vigorously supports a business practice that we feel affords unfair advantage pricing to some wholesalers such as but not limited to BestNest. Many of your longtime distributors can not compete for equal volume pricing because they have lost sales from resellers who can not compete with the highly visible online prices flooding the market based on the savings afforded only to select resellers BestNest chooses to supply. This pseudo wholesaler has restricted inclusion into their monopoly thereby suppressing a large majority of retailers from co opting in at their pricing.
We think it is good business for the pond supply industry when;
1. Storefront and online retailers alike can be competitive and make a fair profit
2. Distributors are not squeezed out, competition is good.
3. Manufacturers compete based on the qualitive value of their product.
We agree with the standards set by those in charge of Distributing Danner!

Our concerns have been voiced far and wide however the practice continues. You have been approached face to face by many who feel their words went in one ear and out the other. You have heard from this writer and I have spoken with your representatives stressing I am not a lone voice. It appears that you still have not heard us or perhaps you think you’ve heard the last of us.
Instead we have formed a petition which we will present to you in an effort to conduct further business with your companies. This is a generous offer considering we had no warning when you shut us out. Using BestNest to demonstrate our grievances, a scant number of pond supply manufacturers sell to BestNest but have not given them Carte Blanc to devalue their products.
It is obvious that those manufacturers follow business practices more in line with industry integrity. If Cal Pump and Danner continue to sanction the current practice, we will have no alternative but to stop carrying your entire line of products and rely on the manufacturers that rely on us.
