Tony LavelleWithout yachts, barges and other sailing boats, the creek will remain a neglected eyesore. I want the creek to be a valued asset for recreation, conservation and heritage purposes by the community of Sittingbourne.
Bob FrostThe proposed bridge will ruin the use of Milton Creek for future generations and reduce the prospect of waterside leisure development for future citizens of Sittingbourne.

A.R.BirchA swing or lifting bridge should be constructed so that navigation is not prevented by sailing craft

Paul EvansKent County Council are being very short sighted in their plans for a fixed bridge over Milton Creek.
Larry BawdenContinuing with this project as it stands will stifle future development of Milton Creek
Cathy BrownIn the Netherlands there would be no question of this. If there had to be a bridge, it would be a lifting one, to preserve the river traffic. Why can't we follow their enlightened example?
W.HolnessI am astonished that the KCC cannot recognise the potential for leisure development at Milton Creek, which would enhance the centre of Sittingbourne and the surrounding area. Other countries such as the Netherlands appear to have no difficulty in encouraging the leisure boating market, and I am saddened that the authority for Kent, a county with a very long coastline, does not seem to have the imagination to do the same.
Neal BeaumontSurely it must be possible, with not too great an increase in cost, to provide a swing or lifting bridge. This would cause negligible disruption to traffic flow, and will allow future regeneration on the Creek as a precious maritime environment.

Ray CooleI have sailed for many years in the area and currently keep my boat on the Medway. It would be a sad loss if I was unable to use the Creek owing to a fixed bridge
Ian BaronAs a local resident and yachtsman it would be madness not to ensure the Creek's survival as a navigable waterway. Any fixed link will cause the creek to silt up, thereby hindering any redevelopment from an aesthetic viewpoint at least. Any residential development will only overlook mud in that event!
Philippa BaronBorn and bred in Kemsley, alongside Milton Creek, I would be devastated if this area were allowed to degenerate by the provision of a fixed link over the Creek. My father's cousins were bargees and I now crew a local gaff cutter - we should be preserving our local heritage!
glenn springettPlease prevent the short sighted destruction of sittingbourne's future development potential that the fixed link will bring

MagnayIf there is a requirement for a bridge, it should be an opening bridge

Nigel AmesAt a time of growing leisure demand it would be crazy to limit access to this area.

Jarvist FrostWhat an utterly foolish thing to do. Your forebears would have been dismayed.
Nick StewartI would like to object to Kent County Council's plan to build a fixed bridge over Milton Creek for the following reasons: The creek is central to Sittingbourne’s Heritage. The creek was a major port for Sailing Barges and site for their building, none will be able to visit in the future. A lifting bridge would enable all vessels to enter and leave the creek. Presence of boats would form an attractive focus to the area. Town requires an attractive bridge, not a motorway flyover. Short sighted to condemn the creek to a future of continued abandonment. Many sailing boats would be deprived of an interesting destination. Limits the potential of Milton Creek to become a future leisure and tourist attraction. Closing the creek would be irreversible and potential housing developments, leisure and employment opportunities would be lost. Opportunities for a marina development would be affected by being limited to Motor Boats. This is a saltwater creek, most sea boats have masts. In the future water transport is likely to become more important, this will be constrained by a low level bridge. Creeks need to be dredged to prevent silting, need to provide access to larger dredging boats.
Jan GillonIt seems crazy to abandon the creek as a fixed bridge will stop any future development plans in their tracks. As mostly sailing boats use the creek at present, traffic will dwindle when 2 managed opening times daily would allow its continuing use and future opportunities for growth.

Roy DaveyWe must do everything possible to keep Milton Creek open & accessible for everyone.
Tony GillonLifting or swing bridge would allow access to both vehicles and boats
P.J.FlowerThe clean up, regeneration, and development of Milton Creek would bring a much needed interesting cultural and historical feature back to life in a town which is at present devoid of interest(apart from the church). A low level bridge would reduce the development potential of the creek and would preclude any meaningful marina development thus denying the potential economic boost that it would bring to the town.
Paddy NewtonThe important maritime heritage waterway of Milton Creek should not be permanently vandalized by an unnecessary fixed low-level bridge when there is a renewable, visually attractive and possibly cheaper alternative readily available which will maintain the health and viability of the Creek as a leisure resource.
