MILLFIELD residents against the sub-division of our beautiful, quiet country village. Will be taking a petition to Council before the 21/8/14.

Millfield is a residential village in the vineayrds district near Cessnock NSW and near the border of the Yengo State Forest and National Park and is the cachment for the area.. The proposed "Rosehill" development is on low lying land, mainly floodplain below the current homes in Millfield. Although the village was recently sewered to help cope with environmental issues, These properties lie well below the termination of the gravity fed sewer system and Hunter Water told residents at the completion of the project that "it was not within their 30 year plan to provide sewer to the lower residences or other properties in Millfield". These proposed properties would have to be on septic systems and they according to the draft plan run right up to the main creek cachment which flows through the villages of Millfield, Paxton and Ellalong whom havbe both blocked similar development. The creek system feeds the "Catchy Boy" swamp below Corrobare. A signifigant wildlife area and bird and fish breeding ground.

The roads in the area are in shocking condition and cannot cope with the current traffic flow, never mind the addition of over 124 proposed homesites and there is no infrastructure to support such a sudden growth in population. In the 2007 floods the entire cachment flooded with signifigant water inundation of the area in question, including the adjoing subdivision with flooding of low lying homes. A new subdivision of this magnitude would have a disastrous impact on the entire cachment system. It should be noted that fences have already been erected around lots PRIOR to the publication of the draft plan and mail release to the Millfield community. What does this say about what is going on? A nearby development of Rosehill was it seems signifigantly affected by the private funding of the development of the road between Paxton and Millfield several years ago.

The residents live in the village environment outside of Cessnock to enjoy the beautiful surrounds, the safe environment for families and rural lifestyle. Cessnock is ten minutes away and there is signifigant land available in the Cessnock township for further population expansion without impacting on the historic villages which comprise a signifigant contribution to the tourism industry in the area.

Support us in saying "NO" to this development and supporting us in the protection of our historic village and the cachment area
