As of November 13th, the Historic Society of Milledgeville will be enforcing that "'no more than 3 non-related people" can living a historic home. The Milledgeville City Council will be enforcing this on a complaint system. If ANYONE has a complaint against a historic home, the City Counsel will come and force the occupants to prove they have no more than 3 people living in your home. If a person cannot prove there are less than three unrelated people they will have to pay up to $1000 per night per person, until they move out.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN
Students will be displaced mid-semester, homes will be vacant, and the housing market will decline in Milledgeville.
Forcing students out is wrong. Support the students of GCSU by signing a petition.
The feedback I have received from residents highlights the genuine anxiety this ordinance creates for our student population. I am currently organizing the collected testimony to present a formal rebuttal during the next council review.

This is honestly insane. kicking students out in the middle of a semester is just setting them up to fail. who even comes up with these rules?

How are students supposed to afford to live anywhere else on such short notice? this is going to hurt so many people who are just trying to get an education.

Maybe focus on fixing the actual problems in town instead of harassing college kids for living where they can afford. so frustrated by this.
