Kelly A McEnaneyI suffer from chronic migraine attacks and CFLs make the attacks much more painful. I now travel with incandescent or LED light bulbs to replace the CFLs in hotel rooms. If they become more common, I'll be unable to travel anywhere.
Rena SherwoodI write about green issues as well as health issues. CFLs need to be redesigned in order to help people and, ultimately, the planet.
Virginia GoldenI missed a day of work today because of a screaming headache. I work under fluorescent lights at my day job and have been working under them at night lately, too. When I leave the room with fluorescent light, the pain immediately reduces but does not go away. I do not like the idea of being forced by law to use lighting that makes me ill.
Ken BodekI cannot be anywhere with CFL lights, my chronic migraines make me very sick around them.

Melissa NarranceAs someone who has Lupus and Fibromyalgia, I can attest to the pain I feel when exposed to UV rays. Please don't make expensive alternatives our only alternatives.
Lisa HigginsI get a migraine EVERY time I am near a flourescent light for more than 10-15 minutes. I can't shop, I have had to use lamps in my office instead of the overrhead flourescents. I can't even fathom how life will be when the only thing we can purchase is CFLs. I'll be in bed suffering every day. If this law is implemented as is, our country will lose hundreds of thousands of dollars due to people calling in sick. As it is migraines/headaches are one of the top reasons for work time loss.

Sandra GibsonI had to file for disability benefits because I was not able to perform my office duties while sitting under bright fluorescent lights. The fluorescent lights caused daily migraines. I was given disability benefits through the Federal Employee Retirement System.
Carole MouallemAs a longtime migraine sufferer, I can say with absolute certainty that CFL's do trigger my symptoms. Additionally, they also affect my SLE (systemic Lupus). I am extremely offended that people like myself are being considered ecologically hostile. That is an absolute outrage! If the people who made this unbalanced assessment were to live one day in my shoes, their minds would by unquestionably changed forever. I can only pray that there will be a fair and equitable alternative given to migraineurs and others who become ill from CFL's.

Ricky VohraI replaced my living room recessed lights on the ceiling with CFLs. I am OK however my wife's been complaining about headaches ever since. Not sure if this is the cause or not - but she has no clue of CFL and CFL related issues. She's genuinely complaining about headaches.

Julie MastUntil you have migraines you can't understand the impact on your life. CFL trigger migraines in me, I sometimes have to leave a room where the bulbs are flickering, people without this condition just don't understand and can't even see the flickering that I can see, but it is real. Please I need incandescent bulbs to remain on the shelf. Thank you.
AnonymousThere should also be mandatory accommodations for employees that work in offices under the ADA. I turn my florescent lights out every day and sit in the dark while at work because the lights bother me. I have noticed other "normal" people that do the same - so I don't think it only bothers people with migraine.

julie olsonzI too suffer from migraines triggered by florescents - It is a miserable exisistance to be so isolated.

D TadyI have severe migraines and the bulbs make them worse. Please do not expect us to suffer extreme pain for the good of saving a few dollars.... some of us can't go green - - - we have to have exceptions.
Rebecca Kirk
Vivian SchmuckerBright light causes me eye pain due to a combination of glaucoma, cataracts and retina abnormalites. CFLs are way too bright, harsh and glarey for me. Since incandescent light is the best lighting option for me and others with similar eye conditions banning it would be a violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act as far as I am concerned.
Billie Schreiner
Zachary RenteriaAlso note that CFL's cause people with neurological disorders to become more irritable and fatigued. They can also trigger seizures in epileptics.

Cheryl DorseySince I was a child, the blinking of flourescent lights have caused migranes and ill feelings for me. Now that so many homes and businesses have flourescent lights - including my own classroom - my migranes have doubled in frequency. Please let us keep incandescent bulbs in our own homes so we have one place that doesn't cause migranes! The headaches take me awy from my children (ages 3 and 5) for days, and they don't understand why Mommy has so many headaches. I want them to be able to see me - so please let me use incandescent bulbs!

Finlay McLachlanHello, I am from Glasgow in Scotland but still wanted to sign your petition. I have terrible problems with fluorescent lighting as it triggers my headaches and migraines. In the last two years or so I have also realised that the new energy saving bulbs are also a trigger. I am relieved to know that the problem has been recognised.
