1 Michele Archibald-HattieI strongly support the opportunity for women to have control and choice over the birthing experience. I encourage the South West Nova District Health Authority to put a proposal into the Department of Health to be a model site and be a leader in this important process.
2 Debbie RobertsThese services are wanted and needed in Southwest Nova.

4 Sheila LeBlanc-JoyceMidwifery is an essential health service that the women in our district, province and country should have unrestricted access. Insuring that this fundamental life experience is as natural and healthy as possible will have positive ramifications within society - the extent to which we have yet to witness.
5 Joanne HeadIn these times of limited access to doctors and health services, providing more access to a variety of health services is always a good thing. I think midwives and dulas can provide services that currently are not being met. In particlular, I think the comfort they give and time they spend with clients is considerably more than that of the clinics. Having both available would be best.
6 Bernadette MacDonaldI want to encourage the South West Health Authority to enlist midwifery services within their subscribed services for the benefit of women and their families.
7 Lois LeBlancMoms would like this. I think the atmosphere would be better for mom and family. I think it would be nice for mom to have a choice. I'm all for it.

14 Mary d'EntremontI wholeheartedly support Mid-wifery in Nova Scotia. My daughter who lives in Halifax had a midwife for all three of her children and it was a very positive experience.

20 AnonymousThis is a greatly needed service, nice for families to have babies at home
21 Renee Meuse BisharaI wholeheartedly support the existence of midwives in the tri-counties. As a potential future midwifery client, I can say this is the care that I would want for myself. As a future midwife, I hope to work in the tri-counties.
22 AnonymousWith the shortage of doctors who are willing to deliver babies, especially in our area, midwives are the obvious solution.

25 Janet O'ConnellMidwifery is not only a must it is also a tradition, I believe the service provides a sense of trust, calmness, and an up front personal contact with the client, before and after care.

44 Melissa MorinWe surely do need midwifery in Yarmouth. Some of us women would love to have water birth and no they don't do that in Yarmouth, you would have to find a private clinic in Halifax the closest...

48 Heather BairdI strongly support this initiative and believe, having birthed a child with a CNM, that midwifery should be a realistic and accessible option for healthy women who wish to experience childbirth the way nature intended it to be. CNM's are highly trained professionals. They specialize in pregnancy and delivery and know better than an OBGYN the ability of a woman to give birth naturally. Statistics have shown that nearly 85% of women who deliver with a midwife do so naturally and 95% of women who prepare for childbirth by studying "The Bradley Method) deliver naturally. Without the support of a knowledgeable and caring individual such as a CNM, women are easily persuaded in the moment to elect for procedures that are unnecessary and even harmful to their unborn child.
