Comments: Only the most backward of systems would allow hospitals to perform Cesareans almost at will, and would not allow women to give birth in the natural setting of their own home, under professional supervision of fully schooled midwifes.

Comments: Although I am not a resident of NY, I am a midwifery student in Chicago, Illinois, and know from experience that it's very dangerous for CPMs and DEMs to be illegal. We only have 4 CNMs who do homebirth for the entire state, & they're all near Chicago. So anyone in southern IL has no options. Many of these women end up crossing state lines to deliver, or worse, giving birth unattended. There needs to be more options for women who want to deliver out of hospitals. There needs to be collaboration & understanding between OBs and midwives, for the safety of women who have made the educated and informed decision to birth at home, and are only transferring to the hospital because the wise midwife knew she needed intervention. Please don't let this situation continue!

Comments: i was excited about my first pregnancy, but i cant help and feel cheated out of that beautiful bond a mother gets out of receiving her child naturally! my delivery was induced due to pre-eclampsia at 38 weeks. i felt fine! but the doctors said otherwise, after 24 hours of my body not showing any progress they gave me a c-section. my doctor who had attended me for the whole almost 9 months wasn't even there. i had a cocktail of drugs and strongly believe thats what cause my difficulty in breastfeeding afterwards. I'm currently pregnant again and DO NOT want this to repeat itself again!

Comments: Birthing from the beginning of birth is our choice and so is in the end the way we want to have our babies still our choice. Nothing in the way but the Creator should alter that choice, it is our natural right and forever will be. Law does not govern the reproductive system and never has so why should it be applied in the end. I had a home birth by my midwife Sakina O'hura and to this day my daughter is healthy and still happy with no complications. I am tired of this patriarchy telling women what to do, how to do it, and when to do it. Until they grow vaginas and breast then they should leave their noses out of our hut.
