Name: Neile King on May 20, 2009Comments: Please eliminate the written practice agreement requirement for midwives practicing in New York State. At a time when hospitals have cesarean section rates climbing above 40%, we need the type of care midwives offer more than ever. Thank you.City: BrooklynUS State: NYFlag

Name: Jennifer Fegan-Szalay on May 20, 2009Comments: Please support the Midwifery Modernization Act. As a consumer of midwifery services as well as a student midwife, this legislation is vital to the growth of midwifery as a profession in NYS. Removing the Written Practice Agreement will increase access to more midwives in all areas of NYS, including urban, suburban, and rural communities.City: NassauUS State: NYFlag

Name: Alison Fromme on May 20, 2009Comments: I support evidence-based medical care. If you look at worldwide data, you will find that midwifery care is both less expensive and safer than hospital care for healthy pregnancies. As a trained biologist and mom, I support this legislation, and I hope you will too.City: IthacaUS State: NYFlag

Name: Jill Herendeen on May 20, 2009Comments: As a taxpayer, I am OUTRAGED that my taxes are going to subsidize hospital births for the poor, and hospital births in general, the direct result of which is at least 2/3 of c-sections being medically unnecessary, and an obscene maternal mortality rate as the direct result of that c-section rate. WE NEED UNIVERSAL, SINGLE-PAYER HEALTHCARE NOW, because OUR focus is clearly only on making profits for large corporate entities, which becomes obvious when we see what is done in other countries, and compare their far superior perinatal outcomes with our own.City: LyonsUS State: NYFlag
