Keep our Middle School Downtown

We are gathering names of people who want to keep the middle school in downtown Portsmouth.
STAYING DOWNTOWN enables our children to walk/bike to school, helps fight childhood obesity which affects 45% of kids aged 6-19, creates a sense of community by being close to our new library, our neighborhoods, our parks and our town center and meets the goals of our master plan.
Can it be done? Yes! If we RENOVATE SMARTLY. This means obtaining multiple bids for designs/costs (something the school board failed to do), thinking creatively about how best to use the existing space without building on Alumni Field, utilizing existing infrastructure like the library next door, fields across the street and on-street parking, and working proactively with state representatives on funding.
PLEASE SIGN BELOW AND JOIN US.
Don't let our school board and city council move our middle school out of the
downtown especially to Jones Avenue, one of the last large pieces of open land
(30 acres on Sagamore Creek) in Portsmouth.
