Comments: It is important for the inmates to have that special connection with their families, especially their significant other. Families are a big part of reintergration into society, sometimes change is necessary on the families part too in order to prevent the vicious cycle of returning to prison.

Comments: If this could be legalized, we would have a lot more happy people in this world. My friend is punished by having to be abstinate and all she does is love somebody who is already paying the price of not being in the public.

Comments: I think those in prison can fall in love. In mycase, one fell in love with my mother and vise versa. They have known each other for a long time and he is due out a few years. Being married at this point is healthy for both of them to experience.LET THOSE WHO WANT TO MARRY, MARRY!!!!!

Comments: I am all for conjugal visits. I do believe that this would help eliminate some of the tension between inmates and would allow married couples a chance to bond and keep thier marriage strong while they are seperated.

Comments: It is not just the prisoner who is being punished, it's the spouse also. My husband was found guilty of a crime because of poor defense. After the sentencing, two witnesses admitted they had lied. To late to stop incarseration Why Because they thought they were old enough that they did not need a babysitter. Now we both are being punished for a crime that he did not commit. We have been married for 34 years and I will not go against my vows.

Comments: This would be a good thing for both sides. It would help with the tension between inmates and strengthen the bond between the inmate and thier spouse. Don't you think it would give the inmates an incentive to "be good" if they were being rewarded for it, instead of making the time they are forced to do worse then it could be.

Comments: The state of Michigan, can find easy ways to make money, with weekend, over nite stays, by creation some sort of room for rent, on the prison compound, for married couples, Say $500.00 dollars for a weekend conjugal visit, Their is nothing morally wrong with it, and the state loves to make, and charge money, why not make money on Conjugal visits, just my opinion, that way the people can pay for something that they volunteer for, rather than another tax that they are against, then the state can begin to balance the states budget.

Comments: Conjugal or family visits are extremely important to keep family bonds strong and they are also a means of generating funds for the state depending upon how they are set up. Charging the inmate or the visitor a fee would generate funds for the state, it could be a housing fee. The visits will bring up prisoner morale and bring down violent behavior in the prisons.
