Name: Francis Ng on Apr 12, 2010Comments: Mr Thoburn allowed himself to be criminalised in an ultimately successful attempt to prove to the governments, and to the E.U., that the latter's metrification agenda was unjust. Given that both now recognise that it was indeed corrupt, surely acts designed to impress this truth upon them must be recognised, albeit posthumously, as legitimate.Flag

Name: Anne Palmer on Oct 1, 2010Comments: In 2001, Sunderland greengrocer Steve Thoburn was convicted of 'selling bananas by the pound\' on imperial scales, a criminal offence as the result of an EU Directive. I should not need to ask for a pardon for this gentle Giant but because our British Government gets paid to actually govern this Country yet has ratified EU Treaties which allow foreigners to make most of our laws, we, even our own Governments have to obey those foreign laws. I ask for a pardon for all those that have been ruthlessly charged for selling Bananas by the pound.Flag
