| 2451 | dave hoy | this should never have happened, these guys are modern day patriots and to criminalise them is beyond belief............mr brown have the guts to put this injustice right!!!! you talk about britishness but these men showed it by their actions!! |
| 2452 | Andy Cordy | My favorite uncle and my Grandfather were Greengrocers and would have both been proud to stand by this cause, as am I. |

| 2454 | Gillian Mitchell | The greengrocer's at the big local carboot has always used lb.oz. exclusively. Hooray!
As a teacher (now retired) I've always maintained that Imperial measures are practical and exercise the brain as well as having a wonderful and worthwhile history. Now we must get the system taught in schools again. Besides, as a child I was always aware of the metric system, so I'm sure children of today can cope.
I hope Steve is pardoned as soon as possible. Sometimes I cannot believe some of the people this country has produced since my mother's generation fought for our freedom. How could they prosecute a British subject for this "crime?"
Good luck. |

| 2456 | Jon Kingdon | |
| 2457 | Bruce Roberts | This prosecution was a diabolical infringement of personal liberty. People should always have been free to serve in a language of their choice as long as that was free and fair. The language of the imperial measure may not carry the popularity of Eurocrats but it was popular amongst right thinking people. Market forces should be allowed to decide. If people are prepared to buy in pounds and ounces, prosecuting someone for meeting this need was absurd. My heartfelt sympathies go out to Steve's family for this tragedy, undoubtedly exacerbated by trying to fight the system. A pardon and compensation is the least that should be expected. |
| 2458 | Sue Roberts | My heartfelt sympathies go out to Steve's family for this tragedy, undoubtedly exacerbated by trying to fight the system. A pardon and compensation is the least that should be expected. |
| 2459 | Robert Bradley | The European Commission's declaration of Britain's right to continue using Imperial measurements "until Kingdom come" represents a victory for all who believe in what Steve Thoburn stood for. It is only right and proper that he should be granted a Royal Pardon (albeit posthumously), and be remembered as a patriot and a hero, rather than as a criminal |
| 2460 | Peter Bevis | Great news this week and it just shows what a ground swell of public opinion is behind this victory for commonsense and imperial measurements. Well done and thank you. |

No Political party will, they are part of "A Common Purpose" |
| 2475 | Selwyn Chambers | What utter nonsense. My grandfather lies in France to this day. Did he give his life in vain 90 years ago so that some bureaucratic idiot could survive to and be free for such mindless nonsense? |
| 2476 | Anonymous | time we left the EU - !!!!!!!!!!!!! |
| 2477 | Adrian Johnson | |
| 2478 | Roger Doughty | I always thought a law had to be repealed, not simply abandoned. I now wonder just how are these acts are established in law |
| 2479 | Dr Bernard JUBY | They should never have been prosecuted in the first place! |
| 2480 | Samuel Herron | |
| 2481 | Anonymous | The values and discipline that were present in a community in 1945 have been eroded away to the extent that an indigeounous population are now stressed in consideration of a simple historical measurement. What does that say about the leadership of our country?. |
| 2482 | Judith Tait | |
| 2483 | Ray Johnson | Stupid though the law was, it is impossible to deny that Mr Thoburn broke the law as it stood, but if bureaucracy can make a mistake without penalty , why not the citizen? |
| 2484 | Avril Gilbert | Such an injustice whenone considers hardened criminals are given a "slap on the wrist" |
| 2485 | Patricia Mary Moore | I have lived in Canada since 1963 but am still very British!! I applaud what you are doing |

| 2490 | Anonymous | Steve was my parents' local greengrocer and was a lovely man. He died because of some evil council "jobsworth" who started all this bureaucratic nonsense. The USA still use imperial measures and so should we. English people have never understood "European" weights and measures and never will. Even those who do are unwilling to accept them. |
| 2491 | de Carbonnières, Louis | professor at the university of Lille II, I give a lecture on the European Idea and necessarily speak about the metric system and the Thoburn case. That is the reason why I am very glad to support this petition. |
| 2492 | Terry Watson | Although living amonst the "enemy" I stronly give you my full support for what you are doing. |
| 2493 | Ian Salter | This travesty must be corrected. It is never too late for the law to recognise its errors. |

| 2496 | Anonymous | A full Pardon?
I should jolly well think so too, and not before time!
As well as a Pardon, a LARGE donation from governement should follow, for all the agravation it has caused. |
