Hilary StephensIt astounds me that this could have happened in Great Britain...
paul henry vaughan brown

William J RobinsonThat Steve Thoburn was charged was an outrage. Those council members resposible should have been sacked. Do the correct thing now and pardon Steve for the sake of his family.
AnonymousI feel that a man should have a right to give his customers what they want and am very sorry for his family that it cost him his life, as I am disabled and live with arthiritus everyday . But I am still alive to see my children and husband and thank God ! Please keep fighting and make his death seem worhwhile!!!!
AnonymousMy family share your sympathy and understand this need never have happened. I found it impossible to change to the metric system and would have recommended anyone with the determination your husband has to help people older to stay with what they know!!!

John Tooley
Peter LaneIt is clear to any educated person who has made himself familiar with the facts that Steven Thoburn should be granted a posthumous pardon and that his co-defendants should also be pardoned.
Chris Bliss-JonesGood luck with the campaign to clear these people's names.

John ArmstrongIt comes to something in a democracy when politicians at all levels have to bully and out manoeuvre their own people just to get their own way, and they have the nerve to call it leadership. I will be writing to my MP to seek support for you campaign.
Joe GraberGood luck
David CookThe abandonment of the enforced metrication programme has vindicated this courageous man. A pardon is just and honourable. We can all benefit from this, even the politicians who got it wrong by their own admission.
paul
Dominic ColtmanI will always use imperial measurements. In actual fact I really would much rather buy my apples and bananas in pounds. It seems dehumanising to use metric, if Napoleon had won we would now have 10 hour days.. Tempertures also, more "human" to use Farenheit you can say a hot summer day in the "90s" etc etc... Let's not lose our right to be "British", this was not on the cards when joining Europe was first discussed. This man's name must be cleared asap...!!!!

james trimble
Anne ShawWishing you success in your endeavours.
Andie RileyI believe that in the light of the EU decision to stop trying to force the UK to go metric, Steve Thorburn should be given a royal pardon.
Bob GrahameTo pardon the late Steve Thoburn now would be a generous and traditionally British act which I would wholeheartedly support.
Robert CartwrightThis pardon should be granted unequivocaly to a man who's life was taken by unneccesary and heavy handed conviction for a crime which now doesn't exist, as well as for the other traders. Compensation MUST now be paid to them and the relatives of Mr Thorburn !
Brian Robinson
Dr. David JohnstonI want the Euro; like the metric system; but if I want a pound of plums and someone wants to sell them to me - what's the problem?
Robert Redgrove
laura walton
Lee HamiltonI fully support the metric martyrs campaign, to retain the display and use of imperial scales for commercial use.
Diane L Jones
Dominic HigginsThe very best of British luck for Steve's pardon.
