Name: Leon Wierzchowski on Nov 9, 2002State: OKCountry: USComments: Why is it that we in the metal detecting hobby cannot have the same rights as those that enjoy the hobbies of camping, hunting, and fishing The state parks in Arkansas would benefit greatly, especially in the swimming areas where dedicated detectorists make every effort to clean out harmful debris as they work their hobby. Please eliminte discrimination in the great state of ArkansasFlag

Name: Arrel Carter on Nov 9, 2002State: ARCountry: USComments: The state needs to set guidelines for our hobby. There are no valid reasons to keep people from hunting for relics or articles from our history. I shows how narrow their field of view really is on this issue. They listen to a few lame brains at local universities that say these areas should not be disturbed... Why, we know what happened, they are not crime scenes, why supress our past to those articles of history turn back to their natural elements. It is really another case of the dog guarding the hay so the goats cannot eat.... Dr. Arrel E. Carter IIIFlag

Name: John Pacheco on Nov 9, 2002State: CTCountry: USComments: I have been detecting since 1965. It is a nice healthy hobby and it is a shame to take it away or restrict it because of a few bad apples. You wouldn't throw a whole barrel of apples just because of a few bad ones would you Post notices in the parks along with the other rules 'to make sure you cover any holes dug, anyone found not doing so will be expelled from the park " , this usually will cover any problems. Thank you, JohnFlag

Name: Janeallyn Mott on Nov 9, 2002State: PACountry: USComments: Public Parks are for the benefit of the public. rsponsible detectorists will not damage the park any more than would a squirrel or chipmunk burying nuts. New York State has free permits for detectorists to allow people to pursue the hobby but to have some accountability. Please consider this as an option.Flag

If the state of Arkansas wishes to continue to prohibit metal detecting in their state parks and other areas, then I most likely will find another state, which will allow me to detect, to visit and spend my travel money in.Flag
