Based upon a directive dated July 1975, Metal detecting in the Arkansas State Parks is prohibited. Those of us who enjoy our hobby, both Arkansans and tourists alike, should be benefitted the same rights as other hobbyists such as fishermen, campers, hunters, etc.
We are asking that the State Parks Director and the Parks Commission reconsider their decision earlier this year and work with the metal detecting enthusiasts to arrive at a solution which will be beneficial to both the hobbyists and the Arkansas Parks Department.
